London Underground whistleblower wins case over 'toxic dust' warnings

An employment tribunal said Micky Steeds' concerns about asbestos and other hazardous dust were genuine and legally protected after he raised safety worries while cleaning Tube infrastructure. Steeds was dismissed in August 2023 after refusing to withdraw his complaints, and the tribunal found London Underground unfairly sacked him. Transport for London says strict asbestos controls protect staff and passengers, and it plans to appeal the ruling.
