Lib Dem MP Quits Front Bench to Oust Ed Davey

Liberal Democrat spokesperson Charlie Maynard quit the front bench on Friday and called for Sir Ed Davey to step down as leader. Maynard said the party was falling behind the Greens and Reform UK in the polls. Deputy Daisy Cooper said most MPs still support Davey and are furious at the distraction. Alison Bennett left the front bench days earlier. Davey has led since 2020.
