Labour to focus on job support over benefit payments

Labour's work and pensions secretary, Pat McFadden, said the government will focus on helping health and disability benefit claimants into work. He believes the government owes people more than simply writing a cheque, especially those who could work or change their situation. The renewed effort at welfare reform comes as two government-backed reports highlighted deep-rooted problems with the current system.
