Labour apprenticeship scheme signed up 160 people, missing 30,000 target

Labour's main apprenticeship initiative signed up just 160 individuals during its initial eight months. The scheme aims to tackle youth unemployment, with nearly 1 million 16- to 24-year-olds currently not in employment, education, or training. A Fabian Society report suggests redesigning foundation apprenticeships and launching a £311m-a-year regional fund to support 26,000 new starts annually.
