Keir Starmer admits error over Mandelson ambassador job
British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer admitted his choice to appoint Peter Mandelson as the UK's envoy to Washington was wrong. He told parliament he had not known until last week that Mandelson failed security checks for the role, adding he would not have made the appointment if aware. Mandelson was sacked as ambassador in September 2025 after further details of his links to Jeffrey Epstein emerged.
