Provisional figures show England recorded six hundred and twenty-four wildfires in July 2026, the worst month since records began in 2010. There have been one thousand three hundred and fifty-four fires so far this year, already the second-worst annual total behind 2022. Blazes included a major fire near Sizewell B in Suffolk. A seventy-year-old man died after a Gloucestershire field fire, the first recorded death.
