Judge rules Trump administration illegally punished AI firm Anthropic
A US judge determined on Thursday that the Trump administration's February decision to label AI startup Anthropic a "supply chain risk" was unlawful. The designation was called "illegal and baseless" after Anthropic refused military use of its AI for surveillance or weapons. Judge Rita Lin stated that invoking national security does not provide unlimited justification for penalising government critics, making the suspension of sanctions permanent.
