Jodrell Bank Observatory funding cut risks all scientific work by 2028

The UK government is pulling funding for Jodrell Bank Observatory, meaning scientific work at the Cheshire site could end within two years. The University of Manchester, which owns the observatory, is seeking other funding sources prior to 2028. Astronomers call this a “short-sighted” blow to UK research, though some activity is still funded.
