JD Sports shares fall 12% after weak US sales hit profit expectations
The British sportswear chain now expects to make between £700 million and £800 million this year before tax. Bosses blame cautious American shoppers holding off on buying new trainers, alongside delayed back-to-school spending, for a 6.8% sales drop across North America. While its home UK market grew slightly by 0.8%, overall group sales still fell 3.1% during the latest quarter.
