Retired footballer James Milner, a Premier League winner with both Manchester City and Liverpool, completed the first half in 1:31 and the second in 1:38. His average speed for the event was 7:13 per mile. Sweden's Andreas Almgren won the men's race on his marathon debut in 2:06:01, 13 seconds ahead of Italy's Yemaneberhan Crippa, while Kenya's Sheila Chepkirui took the women's title in 2:24:36.
