Israel strikes Lebanon, killing 18 despite Iran deal

Fighting between Hezbollah and Israel has intensified sharply in southern Lebanon, with at least 18 people reported killed in Israeli strikes following attacks that left four Israeli soldiers dead. The escalation comes despite a recent US-Iran agreement welcomed by G7 leaders and intended to ease tensions across the region. Former US President Donald Trump has criticised Israel’s military approach, arguing that too many civilians are being harmed and urging a more restrained response in Lebanon.
