Israel strikes Beirut; Hezbollah commander targeted
Israel carried out its first airstrike on Beirut since June, targeting Haytham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah's chief of staff and de facto military commander. The strike killed five people and wounded 28 others in the southern suburbs. Israeli officials confirmed the operation aimed to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military capabilities nearly a year after their ceasefire agreement. Hezbollah warned the attack crosses a new red line and threatens escalation across Lebanon.
