The cabinet was originally due to focus on the government's response to the situation in Iran during Tuesday morning's meeting at Downing Street, CNN reported. The leadership crisis has now dominated proceedings instead, with ministers consumed by whether Keir Starmer can survive as Labour leader. The Middle East discussion has been pushed down the agenda as MPs continue to demand the prime minister sets out a resignation timetable.
