Chancellor Rachel Reeves summoned the chief executives of Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, M&S, Aldi and Lidl to 11 Downing Street to discuss how to stop soaring supply costs from landing on shoppers. A government spokesperson said both sides 'agreed to work together to ease the cost of living and strengthen supply chains.' The Competition and Markets Authority confirmed separately that it is monitoring the market for any suppliers raising prices beyond genuine cost increases.
