India clears massive Rafale fighter jet acquisition ahead of Macron visit
India has approved a landmark defence proposal to buy 114 French-made Rafale fighter jets under a government-to-government framework worth around $39 billion, aiming to modernise the Indian Air Force and reduce reliance on older aircraft. Most of the jets are expected to be assembled in India, boosting domestic production. The move coincides with preparations for French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit, underscoring deepening defence ties between New Delhi and Paris.
