IBM to Cut Thousands of Jobs This Quarter Amid Software Focus

International Business Machines Corp. will cut thousands of roles this quarter as it continues shifting toward higher-margin software. CEO Arvind Krishna has intensified IBM's software focus to capitalize on growing enterprise cloud spending via the Red Hat acquisition, driven by corporate AI adoption. A company spokesperson said IBM “routinely reviews its workforce” and that the action “will impact a low single-digit percentage of our global workforce.”
