HSBC collects £135m interim payment from former SVB business

More money has gone to the bank after its bought business lifted profits, even as restructuring costs increased with staff reductions. HSBC received a £135m interim payment from its former Silicon Valley Bank business following its first full year inside the group. Another special payout of £198m in 2024 took total cash distributions to £333m.
