He is the first player over 26 that Chelsea have signed since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang four years ago. Danny Welbeck, 35, has been given permission to undergo a medical within 24 hours, before completing a move from Brighton. He scored a career-best 13 Premier League goals for Brighton last season and will provide experienced backup to Chelsea's strikers, who average 23 years old.
