England has had seven days at 35 degrees Celsius this year, beating the five recorded in 1976, Met Office data shows. June also set a new record at 38 degrees, and July is on track to be England's driest on record, with just seven percent of average rainfall. The Environment Agency has declared drought across seven English regions, affecting around 28 million people.
