Hosepipe bans begin for 350,000 households as heatwave extends across UK
Around 350,000 people are now under hosepipe bans, with Cambridge Water starting its ban on Friday for the first time in over 30 years. Managing director Elena Karpathakis said demand for water is at record levels, calling for public help to protect local resources and chalk streams. Southern Water will also bring in restrictions for about one million customers on Friday, following South East Water's ban on July 3.
