HMRC Plans To Spend Up To £4.4bn On Salesforce System

HM Revenue & Customs, OGL v3, via Wikimedia Commons

HMRC has published its case for replacing more than 70 old customer systems with one Salesforce platform, with lifetime costs estimated at between £1.7bn and £4.4bn over 15 years. The tax office said building its own software would be too costly, complex and slow. It expects the system to serve 34 million people and five million businesses, with spending to be approved in separate stages.
