Heat-associated deaths in England have almost doubled this year, with 2,877 estimated during heatwaves in May and June. The 2,877 excess deaths are a significant increase from the 1,504 recorded in summer 2025. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported these interim figures are already close to the annual record set in 2022.
