Heathrow nearly lost busiest airport title to Istanbul in May
Heathrow was almost overtaken as Europe's busiest airport in May, with only 3,012 more passengers than Istanbul. The London airport saw a 1.2% fall in traffic from May 2025, while its Turkish rival had a 2% increase. Heathrow says the Iran-US conflict is pushing down its passenger numbers, predicting a 1.1% annual drop.
