Guga hunt licence likely refused over bird population concerns

Scotland's traditional guga hunt, dating back to the 15th century, could be refused a licence this year due to concerns about the gannet population on Sula Sgeir. NatureScot officials have recommended against granting permission for the hunt, which usually takes place in August, also citing animal welfare. Animal charities have welcomed the recommendation, while campaigners for the hunt are disappointed.
