Government pilots 4 projects to reform 11m fit notes
Individuals on sick leave could receive more tailored assistance to maintain their current roles or rejoin the workforce. Today, the government introduced four pilot projects aimed at overhauling the problematic fit note system, which is responsible for issuing more than 11 million notes annually. These trials, covering up to 100,000 appointments over a year, will test different approaches, including some GPs no longer issuing notes.
