Google workers demand layoff protection with 4,500-signature petition

Over 100 Google employees rallied outside the company's Mountain View headquarters on Thursday, asking for job security. Union leaders presented a petition, bearing the signatures of 4,500 workers, to CEO Sundar Pichai and three other senior executives. They want guaranteed severance, no performance quotas, and the option to take severance as extended paid leave.
