Google: UK child ban risks 74% of kids' learning on YouTube

Children risk losing access to educational videos. Google criticised the UK plan to include YouTube in a proposed under-16 social media ban, expected under an Australian-style regime announced by ministers. Google UK managing director Kate Alessi said 74% of children use YouTube for learning and 50% watch it in living rooms, while ministers aim to legislate before Christmas for measures starting spring 2027.
