Google maps fruit fly brain after ten-year project

Scientists at Google and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute have finished mapping all neural connections in a male fruit fly's brain, a task that took ten years. The connectome map shows how the fly's 166,000 neurons and 125 million connections are wired. People online are now using this data to train simulated fly brains to play video games like Doom and Super Mario 64.
