Google buys Spirit Airlines data for AI training
Google has bought 100 million anonymised emails and 500 million Teams messages from the now-insolvent US low-cost airline Spirit Airlines. The tech giant paid $10 million for the data, which also includes payroll records and passenger information, for its AI training. A US bankruptcy court in New York still needs to approve the sale, and all personally identifiable data will be removed first.
