Giant camera begins 10-year sky mapping mission.
The massive camera, which approximates the dimensions of a small car, has begun a ten-year mission from a Chilean observatory. It will capture hundreds of images nightly, aiming to create a detailed universe survey and discover millions of asteroids. Scientists hope to map the Milky Way and study dark matter and energy, building on Vera Rubin's pioneering dark matter research.
