France votes to ban social media accounts for children under 15
If lawmakers approve the law on Tuesday, children under 15 won’t be able to open social media accounts from 1 September. Platforms must use age checks approved by France’s privacy regulator and will have four months to close existing under-15 accounts. Educational websites will stay available, while the European Commission will check the law fits existing EU rules.
