Formula One to hold more sprint races from 2027 season

Formula One will increase the number of sprint races next year to boost attendance, but won't hold them at every event. CEO Stefano Domenicali confirmed the plan after F1 owner Liberty Media published their second quarter 2026 results. Reduced distance sprints currently happen on Saturday mornings and give eight points to the winner.
