Formula 1's governing body says engine makers blocked fixes to the 2026 rules

Drivers including Lewis Hamilton have criticised the 2026 designs after cars lacked energy during the recent race in Belgium. Nikolas Tombazis, a director at the FIA motorsport regulator, claims officials spotted the problems two years ago but lacked the authority to act. He says altering the rules required support from four out of five engine suppliers, who refused to agree.
