Ex-SNP chief Murrell jailed for £400k embezzlement

Peter Murrell, the former SNP chief executive, has been sentenced to five years and three months in jail after admitting to embezzling over £400,000 from the party. He used the funds between 2010 and 2022 to buy items like cars, a motorhome, and even toiletries. Judge Lord Young called it a "calculated crime of dishonesty," noting many high-value items were unused.
