European Leagues Threaten FIFA Over 2030 World Cup Expansion

The body, acting for 53 divisions including the Premier League, opposes a July proposal to grow the 2030 men's tournament to 64 teams. Officials claim the sport's global organiser expects a decision within a month without speaking to any affected clubs. These leagues already submitted an official objection to the European Commission in October 2024 about how the game is run.
