Europe studies Hormuz fee plan for ships
Shipping through a key sea route could become more predictable if a voluntary payment system wins support. European governments are examining plans allowing navigation charges in the Strait of Hormuz provided they aren't compulsory and receive backing from the UN maritime agency, while US officials want Iran to confirm safe passage publicly. Oman prepared one proposal with British lawyers.
