EU warns UK won’t get special return terms
Britons hoping for closer European ties may still face strict membership rules if the country seeks to rejoin the EU. Former Brexit negotiators said any future British application would follow normal entry conditions without earlier exemptions covering border controls, budget payments or the euro. Georg Riekeles said Brussels would welcome Britain back, but only under the same terms applied to other member states.
