EU orders TikTok to change addictive design or face 6 percent fine
The European Commission ordered TikTok to overhaul its addictive design features, specifically demanding the removal of infinite scroll and the introduction of mandatory screen time breaks. EU Tech Chief Henna Virkkunen warned the platform faces fines up to 6 percent of its global annual turnover if it fails to comply with the Digital Services Act. While Brussels claims the app harms minors, a TikTok spokesperson rejected the preliminary findings as categorically false and entirely meritless.
