EU Launches RESourceEU Initiative to Cut Reliance on Chinese Rare Earths

The European Union has unveiled RESourceEU, a strategic plan to reduce its dependency on Chinese rare earths following new export restrictions from Beijing. Over 90% of Europe’s rare earth magnets, crucial for automotive, defence, and tech industries, are currently sourced from China. The EU will pursue alternative partnerships, enhance recycling, and boost domestic investment, aiming for greater supply security and autonomy across critical sectors.
