EU envoy warns Russian war economy is becoming unsustainable
According to David O’Sullivan, the EU’s sanctions representative, Russia’s wartime economy is nearing a critical strain. Ahead of the conflict’s fourth anniversary, he explained that although sanctions do not deliver immediate results, they are steadily undermining Moscow’s financial foundations. Declining oil income and accelerating inflation are adding pressure, and O’Sullivan warned that current government spending could prove unviable later this year, even as Russia continues to sidestep restrictions through intermediary nations.
