Ethiopia informs UN it is defending itself from Eritrean border incursions

Ethiopia's government alleged on Friday that Eritrean forces had crossed its border and taken control of areas in the country's north. In a letter, Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos cited Ethiopia's entitlement to self-defence, as outlined in Article 51 of the UN Charter. Eritrea, in turn, urged the UN Security Council on Saturday to condemn Ethiopia's "declaration of war" and take deterrent measures.
