English football trials rule to stop goalkeeper timeouts

English football will trial a rule this season to stop coaches using goalkeeper injury breaks as tactical timeouts, BBC Sport reported. When a physio treats a goalkeeper, the coach has 10 seconds to nominate a different player to exit the field for 60 seconds. The FA, Premier League, EFL, National League and Women's Super League back the test, which still needs approval from lawmakers Ifab.
