England's Rarest Ants Stolen From Last Devon Habitat

Thieves have taken a nest of England's rarest ants, the Narrow-headed Ant, from the only place in the country where they still survive. Devon Wildlife Trust said the nest was removed from Chudleigh Knighton Heath nature reserve, with evidence first found in mid-October. A single nest can hold up to 5,000 ants and long-lived queens. The theft has been reported to Devon and Cornwall Police.
