England's poorest areas see five times more child pedestrian deaths and injuries
Official figures reveal that 2,432 children and teenagers suffered fatal or severe road injuries across Britain in 2025. Analysts at the Department for Transport found that over a fifth of these young victims lived in the most deprived tenth of postcodes, against just 4% from the wealthiest. Looking at all ages, driving too fast contributed to more than half of the 1,538 total deaths.
