Energy bills verdict due within days, small rise expected

Households will learn the October energy price cap within days, with Ofgem committed to publishing the new level by Wednesday 26 August. Forecaster Cornwall Insight expects a rise of around 2% to roughly £1,700 a year for a typical home, about £3 a month more. A new zero VAT rate on electricity starts on 1 October, the same day the cap changes.
