Emily Wilson criticises Nolan film as 'gimmicky' and lacking sex scenes

Emily Wilson, whose translation of Homer's Odyssey influenced the film, called Nolan's adaptation 'abysmal'. Writing in the London Review of Books, she criticised the three-hour epic for lacking psychological depth and convincing character motivation. Wilson also noted the absence of sex scenes and unappealing food, despite being grateful the film is encouraging more people to read Homer.
