Ellie Reeves becomes attorney general in Andy Burnham’s new cabinet

Ellie Reeves, the sister of former chancellor Rachel Reeves, has been given the government’s top legal job after serving as solicitor general. Prime Minister Andy Burnham named her attorney general as part of his first cabinet following his move into Downing Street. Reeves was elected MP for Lewisham West and East Dulwich in 2024 and previously served as a Cabinet Office minister.
