Eating 100g more ultra-processed food daily raises cancer risk by 4%

A new analysis of over 50 studies, with nearly 9 million adults, links ultra-processed foods to higher risks of chronic illness. Eating 100 grams more daily raised cancer risk by 4% and death risk by 3%, said Dr Xiao Liu, the study's lead author. Some 60% of the American diet consists of these foods, which often contain sodium, added sugars, and refined grains.
