Downing Street confronts petrol firms over 'unfair' prices

Motorists face increasing costs after unleaded petrol went up by 8p, reaching an 18-month high. Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband met with major retailers on Friday at 11 Downing Street, warning companies like Asda, BP, ExxonMobil, and Shell about unfair practices and their shared obligation for lower prices. The Petrol Retailers Association initially threatened to skip the meeting, citing increased abuse for forecourt workers.
