Defence secretary says Trump's Russian diesel deal is about the US midterms

Britain was not told beforehand about the agreement to ease economic pressure and allow Russian fuel into America. Speaking to Sky News, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said the upcoming elections and high living costs are driving the president's decision. He added that while the UK prefers tougher penalties, the American government is still heavily focused on Ukraine.
